Functional Nutrition http://newsite.nkychiropractor.com/service/functional-nutrition/ Wed, 28 Nov 2018 16:08:43 +0000 http://medique.webique-themes.com/?post_type=service&p=645 The post Functional Nutrition appeared first on Performance Chiropractic - Dr. Steve Hannegan & Dr. Celina King.

Functional nutrition is the holistic evaluation of a person’s health. It encompasses nutrition, lifestyle, health history, and diet to determine what needs to be supported through nutrition. By supporting the body through nutrition, the body changes in a positive manner and conditions may be reduced or eliminated. By integrating this with chiropractic care, the physical functionality of the musculoskeletal system and the cellular function can be addressed through nutrition , maximizing the body’s ability to heal.

Performance Chiropractic added functional nutrition to our practice because Dr. Hannegan was noticing patterns with patients and knew there was a way to help support these issues through nutrition. By adding functional nutrition, allows us to help our patients achieve their goals to live the lives they deserve.

So many people are sick with chronic diseases and the traditional medical approach is to just treat the symptoms. The belief is, these diseases can only be managed and that the patient has no control. The medical model doesn’t see the value in nutrition and therefore gives no thought to the idea that poor nutrition actually causes many of the diseases they treat. Nor do they consider nutrition as a viable method of treatment. We know this is not true. Nutrition can improve people’s lives!

Dr. Hannegan has always been interested in nutrition and has talked to patients for years about the benefits of eating clean, high quality whole foods, and avoiding processed foods. But functional nutrition is taking the body to a whole different level of helping it heal itself. Dr. Hannegan wants to see people become healthier so they can spend more time with their loved ones and live quality lives.

Our food system has become significantly depleted of nutrients and more processed than ever before. Our bodies are stressed every day by the chemicals around us. To deal with these stressors and improvement nutrition we use two high-quality whole food product lines, Standard Process and MediHerb to add those needed nutrients back into the body. When the body has the correct amount of needed nutrients it can start to heal and properly function again.

Standard Process is a whole-food nutritional company and farm based in Wisconsin where they grow their own food and process it into supplements, creating extremely high-quality supplements full of nutrition. Dr. Hannegan has visited this farm and seen first-hand how they use the healing power of nature with scientifically supported evidence to create high quality supplements. MediHerb is an Australian company who focuses on herbal supplements. Both are constantly researching their products to maintain their unmatched quality and effectiveness.

Schedule your appointment below and Dr. Hannegan and you will discuss what supplements are best for you. You can get your supplements at the office at the time of your visit or order them online to have them shipped directly to you, anywhere in the USA.

Dry needling is the painless inserting of an acupuncture style needle into a trigger point in a muscle. This process causes the trigger point to relax and the pain to dissipate. This is combined with chiropractic adjustments and exercises to correct the issue at the cause.

You are probably wondering what a trigger point is and what an acupuncture needle is. A trigger point is what is commonly known as a muscle knot. They are sensitive parts of a muscle that are often tender to touch. Sometimes they even refer pain to other areas of the body. An acupuncture needle is a single use extremely thin solid core needles (needles used for injection are hollow) typically the diameter is 0.20mm about twice as thick as a human hair.

Decreased pain both locally and into referral sites

Improved muscled function (able to contract and relax appropriately)

Improved ability to move and function for daily activities

Decreased muscular tension and improved myofascial flexibility

Headaches/Migraines

Tendonitis

Jaw Problems (TMJ)

Sprains/Strains

Plantar Fasciitis

And more!

Pregnancy is a wonderful time but it does put some challenges on the body. Chiropractic care during your pregnancy is helpful for several different reasons. If the body is not properly cared for during pregnancy it can become uncomfortable.

If you are already having common issues such as sciatica, hip, or lower back pain, chiropractic care can be very beneficial. The later in the pregnancy these issues are addressed, the more difficult they are to correct. Getting treatment earlier in the pregnancy is the best course of action for these issues. We recommend preventative treatment from the start.

Graston Technique® is a form of IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation) that allows our doctors to find and break up adhesions, fascial restrictions and scar tissue in muscle tissue. It can also be used for ligaments and tendons with the same effects. There is significant evidence supporting this treatment for the removal of these facial restrictions or adhesions as well as optimizing range of motion.

Spinal Traction http://newsite.nkychiropractor.com/service/spinal-traction/ Fri, 23 Nov 2018 03:35:33 +0000 http://medique.webique-themes.com/?post_type=service&p=605 The post Spinal Traction appeared first on Performance Chiropractic - Dr. Steve Hannegan & Dr. Celina King.

Spinal traction or decompression is used for many different disorders in these areas of the spine, but a big one is a herniated or bulging disc. Traction is applied using a table that allows us to apply computer controlled traction to either the neck or the back. This is a great starting point for any disc injury and should be considered prior to any invasive treatments such as injections or surgery.

Chiropractic is a great option for children of all ages to help improve mood, sleep, posture, immune function, nervous system, and concentration. Adjustments on kids are safe, non-invasive, and use only gentle pressure to achieve optimal results. The adjustment for a child is significantly softer than an adult and dependent on their size and age.

Often there is a misconception that you should only have your child adjusted if they have a problem, but the birthing process is very rough, so they should be checked shortly after birth. This will help set them up with a good functioning nervous system for development. Every single cell in the body has a nervous system connection that comes from the spine. Those little spines can get moved all around during birth putting pressure on the nervous system causing certain issues in the body like constipation for example. These problems not dealt with early on often develop into larger issues later in life.

Other common issues that are related to spinal restrictions are recurrent ear infections, improper head movements leading to flat spots, reflux, and colic. All of these things and more are related to the fragile nervous system coming from a developing spine. Getting your child adjusted regularly reduces or eliminates many of these issues and leads to a healthier life.

Both Dr. Hannegan and Dr. Wilson are great with our smallest patients!

We recommend monthly appointments because their nervous system is so important at this stage. Plus kids fall down a lot!

We see newborns as soon as a few days after birth or whenever they are experiencing any of the listed conditions.

Yes! In fact children often respond faster than adults.
